Retail is a major sector in West Norfolk with over 6000 people employed: in directly serving customers and less obvious 'behind the scenes' work like accounts and purchasing and administration.
Financial, legal and other services are mostly represented by smaller businesses and branch offices such as banks, solicitors, accountants, employment and estate agencies; however Adrian Flux, specialist insurance brokers, are one of West Norfolk's largest employers.
Creative and media industries are represented in West Norfolk by arts and entertainment venues - the Corn Exchange and Arts Centre complex in King's Lynn is exceptional for a town of our size - its own local newspaper and radio station and opportunities for creative individuals as artists and craftspeople, DJs and musicians, photographers and picture-framers and a host of others, many helped by being in a tourist location. Specialist printing and sign-making businesses need graphic design and ICT skills; while opportunities for skills in publicity, marketing and public relations exist in larger organisations or as part of a job in smaller ones.
